"Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize" was established to commemorate the 80th anniverysary of the death of Noguchi Hideyo, the worldwide known bacteriologist. The prize is aimed to award people who made outstanding constributions to medical research and medical services in Africa.
The two stamps depict portrait of Noguchi and his beloved microscope with a map of Africa behind it.
