(Small Notes for the issue)
Philatelic Week was enacted in 1947 to facilitate stamp collecting hobby among people by introducing cultural value of stamps as well as their aesthetic quality.
This year, paintings of a folding screen "Phoenixes by Paulownia Trees " (SUNTORY MUSEUM of ART) by early Edo period painter, Kano Tan'yu (1602-1674) were adopted for postage stamp design.
