(Small Notes for the Issue)

Ito Jakuchu (1716-1800) was one of the representative pa8inters of the era in Kyoto. He is known for his meticulously detailed, almost surrealistic, dkepictions of exotic birds and fowl. He began by studying the techniques of the Kano school but, unsafisfied, went to study Chinese bird-and-flower painting.
