The Shimanami Seaside highway is the name of the west route of Honshu-Shikoku bridges consists of series of island-hopping bridges across the inland sea. The route runs over eight islands and nine single-level bridges linking Onomichi in Hiroshima with Imabari in Ehime, which was opened on 1 May 1999.
